Online GMAT tutor resources

Let’s make a post today on GMAT tutor guides and, as a result, we will give a few tips regarding all GMAT questions, focusing on advices about how to prepare for your tests. Remember, your GMAT score goes down much more if you don’t finish a section than if you guess incorrectly on a handful of questions. So rather than investing three or more minutes on any one question, use process of elimination to make a strategic guess. And no matter what, move on after two to two and a half minutes. If you’re working on a practice test, be sure to go back and review the answer explanation for that question when you’re done. Was there a property or shortcut that you were supposed to use to solve the problem more efficiently? If you really were supposed to multiply all eleven of those numbers together on your scratchboard, then I’ll eat my shorts! Below are some GMAT tips and tricks for the different kinds of questions you’ll see on the Verbal section. These are just the key tips; for a longer, complementary list, head to our guide to tips and tricks for the Verbal section (coming soon).

Pick up ‘mental math’ skills: Doing math in your head can serve you well. “The entire time you are preparing for the GMAT, resist the urge to reach for the calculator whenever you need to do some real-world calculations,” suggests McGarry. “Learn the tricks to doing mental math (It’s way easier to add 59 + 27 by adding 50 + 20 and then 9+7; then add the sums together.)” Have a strategy for sentence correction questions: To get the correct answer in sentence correction items, you must first find the wrong ones, says Yim. “Eliminate commonly tested errors in other answer choices until only one remains,” he adds. “Many times the correct answer will not sound great but that’s not the goal; you are trying to pick the error free answer.”

Let’s suppose that you live in a city large enough to have a decent population of private GMAT tutors, and let’s suppose that you’ve collected a list of tutors from Craigslist or gmatix.com or Google or some other website. (And let’s suppose that you’re not looking for an online GMAT tutor, otherwise you would have called the number on the sidebar, right?) So how, exactly, should you go about figuring out which private GMAT tutors actually know what they’re talking about? Before I continue, let me be painfully honest about my own history as a private tutor: when I first started teaching GMAT lessons at a major test-prep firm more than a decade ago, I barely knew what I was doing. I was always a lively teacher, but you really shouldn’t have hired the 2001 version of GMAT Ninja; the GMAT is an incredibly nuanced exam, and it took some time for me to truly understand how to help my GMAT students succeed. I worked hard at my craft from the very start, but I know—with the benefit of hindsight—that I wasn’t the world’s best GMAT tutor when I first started out. See more details on private GMAT tutor.

Understand What “Computer-Adaptive” Means : The GMAT is a Computer-Adaptive Test (CAT), meaning it keeps a running tally of your score as it goes, based on the number of questions you get correct and their levels of difficulty. The computer-adaptive sections always begin by giving you a medium question. If you get it correct, the computer gives you a slightly harder question. If you get it wrong, the computer gives you a slightly easier question, and so on.

If you work in web design today and you want to become an accounting expert tomorrow, it would be a bit difficult to swallow, if not impossible. In this case, there are a number of restrictions imposed by studies and in this article I am referring, strictly, to the skills that you must develop. Thus, as well you can say that you are a project manager in construction and start programming in Java, or that you are a PhP and want to play golf, like a professional. Come on, you got the idea. Going back to the example of my book, after choosing the title and motive, I set a deadline, so I should break the work into elements small enough and clear, so that at the end of a day I can say that I worked something. palpable. And so, I can share with you 3 pages, on a certain topic. Of course, in creative matters, in beletrisctica, for example, everything is primarily inspirational, so you cannot set clear deadlines, but I am talking about a technical book.
